I saw Chris De Burgh live in South Africa in 1979 when the album "Live in South Africa" was made. I also have one album that is not on your Discography! It is called "Lonely Sky and other stories" and is the same as "Spanish Train and other stories" but without Spanish Train. In South Africa in 1976 the government would ban any song about God so I suppose this is a special version for South Africa. When he performed the song "Spanish Train" live on the stage in 1979 I remember he made a comment "Spanish train otherwise known as much ado about nothing". He included that song in the "live in SA" album and the government did not try to stop it.

I just wanted to say hello to Chris. I'm a Turkish fan. I like his music so much. Just one question to Chris, Has his thoughts changed about the Islamic culture since he wrote the song "Crusader"? Cause, i don't think Selahaddin (or most of the muslims) was such a guy as Chris depicted in his song (as i'm one of them). I can accept that there are exceptions to that, there are monster men around saying that they are muslims. But, Chris has to accept that there are also monsters saying that they are Christian. This is true for all religions, for all countries and for all cultures. But, Selahaddin surely was not one of them and he is not so cruel to kill his own messenger with a knife :( But, i sure like "The Crusader" song as well. I'm still one of the fans of Chris. A little over ten years ago, I picked up a cassette "Fying colors" because of the title "carry me like a fire in your heart". It was the cure for my heartache as I was still dealing with the loss of my then girl friend. It gave me the strength to carry on...letting go of my bitterness. Later on I realized that every song on that album relates to a very intimate aspect of my life. You see, 14years ago,I left my home land of Rwanda in Africa (that I love), never to return because of war..."(saying goodbye to it all)". As I listened to "Leather on my shoes" over and over again, evey word was so poignantly relevant to my situation that I couldn't help but shed tears of joy.For the first time, I was able to face my fears of starting over again.More over at the same time, I somehow regained a renewed sense of Hope and resolve to make it in this "strange" land I now call home.
